Boussac

This is a market town, with a good, busy market on a Thursday morning. Selling all variety of goods - china, vegetables, clothing, shoes and a great variety of other items. There is a beautiful Château, originally built in the 12th century. It was partly destroyed in the hundred years' war, and was rebuilt, in the 1420's. Unfortunately, neglected, it fell into dis-repair. Restoration started in 1965, and is ongoing. George Sands, novel 'Jeanne' was written here, enclosing the chateau and areas of Toulx-Sainte-Croix and Les Pierres-Jaumatres. She sheltered at the chateau during the 1870 war.
